School of Debate @IFAK

July 3, 2013 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

July 3rd, 2pm at IFAK Educators who also facilitate debates in IRDP’s “School of Debate” clubs, will share their experience with other teachers thus promoting participatory approaches in education.

Also invited are students of IFAK who do not take part in the “School of debate” program but who will participate in discussing the topic of the day: “Is retributive justice essential to achieving reconciliation?”. The discussions will have been preceded by the screening of “Cry, the beloved country”, a film that deals with reconciliation between fathers and sons and social injustices that sometimes lead to violence.

This activity contributes to one of IRDP’s main goals which is promoting critical thinking among the youth, but also aims at changing behaviors in the education system by encouraging participatory methods which in the long run will reinforce democratic behaviors in the Rwandan society.
